Governing Body

The Governing Body of the Institute is the highest decision-making authority. It meets at least twice a year. A scholar of international repute heads the Governing Body as its Chairman. The tenure of the Chairman is usually three years, and is also extendable for another term. Besides the Chairman, the Governing Body has 15 members comprising the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, one Vice Chancellor from a University of Assam, one Vice Chancellor from a University in the North East region other than the State of Assam, two nominees each from ICSSR and Government of Assam, the Secretary to the North Eastern Council (NEC), the Commissioner of Finance Department, Government of Assam, and the Commissioner of Planning and Development Department, Government of Assam, two senior Professors of the Institute and one representative of the Faculty. Administrative and Finance Committee

The Administrative and Finance Committee , under the overall control of the Governing Body prepares budget, looks after all financial transactions and prepares statement of accounts. The Committee is the custodian of funds at the Institute. The Committee accords all necessary recommendations to matters related to finance of the Institute for approval of the Governing Body. The Committee is chaired by the Director. The other members of the Committee include the Secretaries of Planning and Development Department and of Finance Department, Government of Assam, two members nominated by the Governing Body, one representative of the ICSSR and the Administrative Officer of the Institute. The Committee usually meets thrice a year. Term of the Members of the Committee is three years.

Faculty

The Faculty of the Institute, according to the MoA, consist of all Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Honorary/Visiting Fellows of the Institute. The Director is the Chairperson of the Faculty and he appoints a Member Secretary among the Faculty. The Faculty advises the Director in respect of academic and administrative functioning of the Institute. The Faculty is responsible for evolving and implementing the research and other academic programmes of the Institute, reviewing the progress of such programmes on a regular basis, considering and recommending Honorary/Visiting Fellows, assisting Director in recruitment of other staff of the Institute as well as reviewing the progresses of the research support staff of the Institute.
